The MOON CYCLE
There are moments in every life when time feels less like a straight line and more like a quiet turning — a place where something completes, even as something else quietly begins. I witness these moments often in the people I walk beside: the pauses between chapters, the breath between who we were and who we are becoming.
This poem grew out of that tender space. It’s an invitation to see our lives the way the moon moves through its phases — never static, never final, always returning to itself in a new way. Sometimes we meet these cycles with longing, sometimes with relief, sometimes with uncertainty. But beneath them all runs a steady truth: we are continually reshaped, even when we can’t yet name how.
If you find yourself in a season of reflection, transition, or quiet becoming, I hope these words help you feel understood and a little less alone as you navigate your own inner tides.
She looked up at the full moon,
Reminiscing the past,
Dreaming of the future,
The moon looked back,
Enquiring about the present,
On reflection she thought,
It’s the completion of another cycle,
It’s the end of another chapter,
The epiphany of another healing,
The manifestation of another gift,
And as she sat there looking at the moon,
She realized the most foundational thing of all,
As she travels from one second to the next,
She too goes through the motions of this cycle,
Eventually she will return to where she began,
Except it will not really be her,
The moon understood,
For it knew from it’s own journey,
That at every turn of the cycle is a new beginning and an old end
